In forming INPO, the nuclear power industry took an unusual step: it assumed the function of overseeing INPO activities while endowing us with ample authority to shape industry-wide performance. At INPO, our members are part of a global community of nuclear leaders and subject matter experts committed to achieving common goals and striving for excellence. We support our members in building and sustaining operational excellence from license issuance and nuclear construction to commercial operations and throughout the life of the plant. All organizations that have a license to operate or construct commercial nuclear plants in the United States have maintained continuous membership in INPO, which currently has 22 members. In addition, many utility organizations that jointly own U.S. nuclear power plants are associate members. Several major U.S. and international suppliers also voluntarily participate in the Institute’s activities and programs.
